Encourage parents to phone pre-school and make telephone appointments if they wish to discuss their child or safety measures (try and avoid all face to face meetings where possible) |

Make clear to parents that they cannot gather at entrance gates or doors or enter the site (unless they have a pre-arranged appointment, which should be conducted safely. Release children to their parent/carer as they arrive to avoid mass grouping in the outside area. |

Inform parents that if their child needs to be accompanied to school only one parent should attend. Keep the room well ventilated at all times. |

Maintain good communication with parents via e-mail, ensuring any updates are shared and to minimise any parental confusion and anxiety. Ensure staff are briefed daily if needed and have a forum for raising concerns and issues. |

Remove unnecessary items from classrooms and other learning environments where there is space to store it elsewhere. Regular cleaning. Remove items such as play dough, sand and soft furnishings and toys from early years setting to reduce contact surfaces. Conditions for use of fluid resistant face mask and other equipment when dealing with a symptomatic child are clear and understood by staff. |
If a child becomes unwell with symptoms of coronavirus while in their setting a face mask should be worn by the supervising adult as 2 metres cannot be maintained.

Follow government guidance on what happens if someone becomes ill and what happens if there is a confirmed case of coronavirus in a setting
Guidance for full opening: schools (2/7/20)
Ensure accurate records of staff and pupils are maintained to enable public health contact tracking and test regimes. As in usual practice, in an emergency call 999 if someone is seriously ill or injured or their life is at risk. Anyone with Corona Virus / Covid 19 symptoms should not visit the GP, pharmacy, urgent care centre or a hospital.
Any staff member who helped someone with symptoms and any pupils who have been in close contact with them do not need to go home to self-isolate unless they develop symptoms themselves (in which case they should arrange a test) or if the symptomatic person subsequently tests positive or they have been requested to do so by NHS test and trace.

If a child is awaiting collection, they will be moved to a room where they can be isolated behind a closed door, depending on the age of the child and with appropriate adult supervision if required. Ideally, a window should be opened for ventilation. If it is not possible to isolate them, move them to an area which is at least 2 metres away from other people. Allocate a suitable room for this purpose and communicate intentions to staff. Ensure suitable PPE (including fluid resistant face mask) is available at this location. |

Parents entering the pre-school |
Inform parents, carers or any visitors, not to enter the setting if they are displaying any symptoms of coronavirus. Inform all parents, carers or visitors that they will ONLY be allowed access to the building if they are wearing a suitable facemask. A record will be kept of who has entered the building if needed for any Test and Trace protocols. |

Continually review the steps put in place to ensure they remain effective and maintain communication with staff. |
Risk assessment published on school website. Nominated employees tasked to monitoring protection measures. Employees encourage to report any non compliance. This risk assessment will be reviewed if the risk level changes and/or in light of updated guidance.
